For those that are still angry or upset that Mighty No. 9 was further delayed, Comcept has extended something of an olive branch. On Monday, the developer released a Mighty No. 9 browser game titled Mighty No. 9 Ganbare! Beck (roughly translated to Mighty No. 9 Go For it Beck!) on Yahoo! Japan.

Mighty No. 9 Ganbare! Beck is an extremely simple title. The only control the player has to input is using the left mouse button to make Beck jump or double jump to avoid enemy attacks. While fun, the most enjoyment I got from the game was seeing all of the bosses that Beck will face in the full Mighty No. 9 game. Mighty No. 9 Ganbare! Beck is something of a boss rush game as Beck only fights the evil Mighty No.’s, who will serve as the bosses in the full game. If you haven’t seen them all yet, Mighty No. 9 Ganbare! Beck gives you a chance to see each of the bosses you will face in the full game and even gives a taste of what to expect from their abilities.

While I’m glad to get some playable content related to the series, Mighty No. 9 Ganbare! Beck may only make waiting for Mighty No. 9 more difficult. After raising over $4 million between the Kickstarter campaign and PayPal donations, Mighty No. 9 has been delayed twice. The title was original slated for a Spring 2015 release but was pushed to September 2015. The real blow came when the game was pushed to first quarter 2016 after the team noted bugs with the online features that are to be included in the game. It’s good that the team is so devoted to ensuring the quality of the game but it doesn’t make waiting any easier.

In case you’re unfamiliar, Mighty No. 9 is the spiritual successor to the Megaman series and features many individuals who helped to create the classic. This includes Keiji Inafune, who’s widely recognized as bringing The Blue Bomber to life with his designs. If you’re interested, Comcept describes the game:

In the year 20XX, breakthroughs in robotic technology have ushered in a new era of peace & prosperity. Violence is confined to the Battle Coliseum, where robot combatants face off in spectacular duels. Dr. White created 9 robot siblings known as the “Mighty Numbers”, who were the most popular and powerful team of robots in the Battle Coliseum and always in the top ranks. But, during one competition there was a cyber-attack, infecting them with a computer virus causing them to become crazed and rampant. You play as Beck, the 9th in a line of powerful robots, and the only one not infected by the mysterious computer virus that caused mechanized creatures the world over to go berserk.
