The folks over at Sentai Filmworks are at it again. This time around, they have acquired the rights to the popular anime Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories. The Yamishibai series transforms urban legends into a full and terrifying anime series. Along the same lines of a demented tale straight from the mind of Junji Ito, this anime has a way with conjuring up some demented and terrifying stories. Now, with the help of Sentai Filmworks, this series will soon be available in select digital outlets and on home video.

The first season of Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories originally started during the Summer 2013 anime season and is produced by ILCA and directed by Tomoya Takashima. The show itself is told with the Japanese “Kamishibai” method (this utilizes scrolling pictures to tell the story), which, has quite a way with horrifying the audience. The second season of this series is expected to air on January 11th during the Winter 2016 season.
