It was announced today (or Friday in Japan), that the expected released date for the upcoming third Kizumonogatari film (titled Kizumonogatari III: Reiketsu-hen) will be debuting on January 6, 2017.

In addition to the announcement of the release date came a brand spanking new visual. Check the tweet below with the new visual from the official Monogatari twitter:

The staff (shown in a tweet below) also encouraged fans to go seek out and see the second film the series, Kizumonogatari II: Nekketsu-hen. This one debuts on Friday in Japan.  Not to worry kids, it will be coming stateside in October.

Kizumonogatari III: Reiketsu-hen will be the final movie in the trilogy (in case you didn’t realize it was a trilogy). Kizumonogatari is the prequel to the hit book (and anime) series Bakemonogatari. The Monogatari series originally started as a light novel that debuted in 2005. Since then, it has developed into a series of novels and anime.

The story follows our beloved protagonist Koyomi during his encounter with the vampire Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade (later known simply as Shinobu). This is the point at which our protagonist acquires his powers (becoming a vampire himself) and slowly developing into the person we recognize in Bakemonogatari.
