Now everyone knows that 2016 was a incredibly strong year for sports anime. Which is why this list was very difficult to compile. After many arguments, a few broken friendships, some tallying, further dispute, and blood, sweat, and tears we finally came to a decision.

So without further ado (buckle up everyone), here at number five we have:

5. Yuri on Ice

Now I know what you are thinking, “NUMBER 5?? HOW COULD YOU? YOU F**KING MONSTERS! F**K YOU GUYS!”

Now now, hear me out. Yuri on Ice was excellent but it just didn’t bring as much heat as we would have desired to see in a sports anime, unlike our number 4 contender.

Which is exactly why number 4 is….

4. Yuri on Ice

Now this is a series that I’d call hot. Which is strange, being that the premise of the series is just so cold. But it instills a feeling of inner warmth that you can’t get anywhere else. It’s also about as erotic as these past few sentences that I’ve been writing.

I think I’m the one that needs to cool off. Which brings me to number 3…

3. Yuri on Ice

I mean seriously, Yuri on Ice has grabbed the attention of EVERYONE inside the anime community and out. From actual ice skaters, Yoai girls that are busy gushing over every moment in this show, to middle aged men that just need more spirit in their lives.

Yuri on Ice truly awakened something in me. Something I never knew I wanted. But I can no longer deny that I too want to be a pork cutlet bowl.

Don’t just take it from us, take it from Evgenia Medvedeva, a real life professional ice skater.

2. Haikyu!!

Haikyu!!

I guess we’ve done enough of Yuri on Ice. Being that we needed to include something else, it couldn’t not be the second and third seasons of Haikyu!! in here. Fans would absolutely have our heads. The two seasons of the hit volleyball series came in and Haikyuu!! (once again) spiked its way into our hearts.

1. Yuri on Ice

“I’ll be your pork cutlet bowl any day”

Truly a masterpiece. We just had to include Yuri on Ice in this list and what better place than the top? If you disagree, that’s okay. But I’ll have to believe that you lead a life without wonder and/or happiness.

Have you seen it yet? Because at this point if you haven’t, then you need to just give up on everything you’ve got going on and strap in for some high quality, magical, and, dare I say, intimate ice skating time with Crunchyroll.

What’d you think of our list? Do you agree? Comment only if you have magic in your heart.
