New Code Geass Movies and Possibly a Series Announced

So this is pretty huge news. On November 27th at an event celebrating the tenth anniversary of the October 10th premiere of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, news regarding the future of the Code Geass series was revealed. News that wasn’t expect by many and certainly not by myself.  Be warned, some events that are spoilers to the original series are addressed below. The first announcement came in regards to a planned series of Code Geass films. The trilogy of movies will encompass the content of the combined 50 episodes of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 (or at least what they can fit into three movies)....

But you definitely need these reality checks from time to time. So without further ado, here are five anime titles or movies that reduced us to tears at one point or another. Keep in mind though, this list contains spoilers so if you have yet to see these titles, just take note that they are on this list. Also, if we forgot your favorite tear jerker, then too bad, it may be in the next list....

Nanbaka Season 2 to be Simulcast on Crunchyroll

Interesteing news today coming from the official website for the anime adaptation of Nanbaka. The second season of the series has been confirmed to be a part of the 2017 Winter anime season and will begin airing in January of next year. The more interesting development is just how the show will be airing. From what we’ve gathered, it sounds like Nanbaka season 2 will be airing exclusively online rather than as part of a traditional block on television. The official site also released a promotional image for the second season of Nanbaka which you can see below: While the method of airing in Japan has changed, overseas it doesn’t sound like it’s going...

Drifters Episode 5 Review

Drifters Episode 5 was perhaps the most direct episode of the series we’ve seen to date. While interesting, the plot followed a very linear path as we watched Toyohisa and his group progress from one battle to another. While it’s a bit different than what we’ve seen, I wouldn’t call it a back thing. The episode was broken into two categories: combat and planning. Within the combat sections we saw two battles happen as well as the aftermath of the slaughter at the beginning of the episode. Seeing the Drifters organize the Elves into a militia and enable the abused people to fight back was fantastic. It was like watching...

Say Hello To The Death Note PPAP Version You Didn’t Know You Wanted

In what can only be described as a bizarre internet obsession (let’s be honest here, there are all a little bizarre), “Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen” has taken the world by storm. The original artist PIKOTARO, released his video back in August. The original has amassed over 80 million in video views. So it was only a matter of time before a marketing team adopted it to capitalized on the recent phenomenon. Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on who you are), the team behind the new live-action Death Note movie (called Death Note Light up the New World) thought it would be a great idea to have Ryuk perform the track. If you thought the original one was...

Drifters Episode 4 Review

Drifters Episode 4 was different than anything we’ve seen from the series so far. Being that we’re only four episodes in, that shouldn’t be too surprising. Every episode could feasibly be different at this point and to some extent they are. However there has been one thing each episode has had in common until now: pacing. Drifters Episode 4 really pumped the breaks and brought the pace of the series down to something of crawl, focusing on different groups of characters actions at the same point in time. Additionally, the majority of this episode was spent on dialogue between characters rather than events or actions that actually pushed the story...

Drifters Episode 3 Review

Drifters Episode 3 was a natural step forward for the series. Our main characters have been introduced, the setting has been at least partially established and the plot has motivation to move forward with Toyohisa leading a new group of followers in the form of Elves that have been wronged. So what do we need? A villain of course! (Well one for the protagonists. We met Easy in episode two but she’s fighting with Murasaki.) The Black King and his “Ends” made a hell of a debut this week. While we don’t know much about the Black King, there are some small details to be found and others we can try to deduce. We know he speaks...

Drifters Episode 1 and 2 Review

Oh how I’ve been waiting for this one. But the wait is over! The anime adaptation of Drifters is finally here and I’m happy to say I’ve really enjoyed it so far. If that’s all you need, go on and watch it. For everyone else, let’s jump right in. Drifters is based on the newest manga by Kouta Hirano, the creator behind the popular Hellsing manga series and the two anime series that followed. This is huge for me; the original Hellsing anime was the first really dark, violent anime series I ever watched and it’s always stayed with me. To this day I can always throw on an episode and enjoy it, even if...

Porter Robinson’s Shelter Anime Finally Arrives

The wait is finally over, Porter Robinson and Madeon’s Shelter: The Animation has finally arrived. The animation is as brilliant as we can expect from Studio A-1. This dystopian storyline blends perfectly well with the track, all culminated into the vibrant color of the video. Porter Robinson describes the story as: Shelter tells the story of Rin, a 17-year-old girl who lives her life inside of a futuristic simulation completely by herself in infinite, beautiful loneliness. Each day, Rin awakens in virtual reality and uses a tablet which controls the simulation to create a new, different, beautiful world for herself. Until one day, everything changes, and Rin comes to learn the true origins...

Black Butler Film Teases New Images and Promo Video

The official site for the upcoming film for the Black Butler series, Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic, released a smorgasbord of new promotional content today. Included among the list is a new promotional trailer, additions to the cast, a new movie poster, and the plans for a special screening of the film on a cruise ship. That last one really sticks out but I’ll admit is pretty suitable for a series like Black Butler. Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic PV2 by pKjd The new cast includes Ryohei Kimura as Charles Grey, Tomoaki Maeno as Charles Phips, and Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Viscount Druitt. The new image from the official site teases the designs of...
