Ninja Slayer: Last Girl Standing Review

The world of Ninja Slayer is quite a dystopian and violent one. Last I reviewed it, I claimed the world as being pretty high quality, even if the narrative can be incredibly difficult to follow. Honestly, that claim is still perfectly valid. We are introduced to the concept of school being a very dangerous place to go to, due to the bus routes going through dangerous neighborhoods. There are vigilante student gangs and we find out that the abilities of the Ninja are apparently tied to the soul. While this is a cool concept, it basically says that ninja are martial arts wizards. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing given the set up of...

Ninja Slayer: Machine of Vengeance Part 1 Review

Ninja Slayer: Machine of Vengeance. A manga recommended on the cover to be for 13+. A well-deserved warning, honestly. It follows a ninja calling himself Ninja Slayer (the hypocrisy being explained within the volume as saying “Soldiers should not be stronger than ninja.”) on his quest to end all ninja. The world itself is set up as a dark and dingy “the rich screw over the poor” dystopian society. Ninja influence almost everything in the world, and yet most people don’t know for sure ninjas exist. The main antagonist is Laomoto, a yakuza head that is determined to end Ninja Slayer. Frankly the story is so ridiculous and over the...

Top 10 Pokemon Designs

Before I begin today’s list, a disclaimer: The following list is just my opinion on the best designs of Pokemon. Only my opinion This has no bearing on which of these designs are my favorite Pokemon, since Charizard is one of my favorites but even he isn’t on this list. Also, Mega Pokemon will not be appearing on this list either as I feel like that should be a different list. With that out of the way, let’s get started! 10. Bisharp, the weird cross between a satyr, a chess piece and a samurai. One of my personal favorite Pokemon. In fact, I’d say Bisharp is tied for my favorite Pokemon along with...

The Differences of Mecha and Robots

One thing that people who watch anime, manga or play games are unaware of are that robots and mecha are two different things. While they certainly can crossover, and often do, there are differences between them that make them separate things all together. I’m here to explain the differences that exist. So, the first thing to go over is the definitions; what is a mecha and what is a robot? In truth, it really is simple. Mecha (which I would imagine is shortened from mechanical combat unit or something along those lines) are mechanical or organic machines that require piloting to function properly, assuming that piloting is possible and under normal...

Assassination Classroom Volume 5 Review

“We are killers. And our target? Our teacher. That is our Assassination Classroom.” The opening words by Nagisa Siota opens up one of the most ridiculous concepts that are VERY well done in anime or manga. An octopus-like superorganism that has the ability to disintegrate 70% of the moon threatens to do the same to the Earth… but not before taking over as a teacher for the class of 3-E, otherwise known as the End Class. As this review is going to be for Assassination Classroom Volume 5, there are spoilers ahead! In volume 5, 3-E is in the middle of the Kunugigaoka Junior High School sports exhibition games. The...
