Hikaru Utada to Return for Kingdom Hearts III Theme

If you’ve played through the main entries in the Kingdom Hearts series. then you know that Hikaru Utada is a big part of the games. Her music has been featured throughout the series, but majority of the games outside of Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II use remixes of the music from those games. It’s a bit of a tradition. If you’ve seen Rogue One recently, then it’s an apt comparison to say that it’s similar to the way Disney is handling the Star Wars franchise. Hikaru Utada is a bit like the crawl and a John Williams score for Kingdom Hearts, which is to say that when Hikaru Utada gets...

Naruto Live-Action Movie Production Announced

In what will surely join the ranks of terrible anime to film adaptations (*cough* Dragonball: Evolution *cough*), it was announced that the production for the adaptation of Naruto has begun. At the stage event Jump Festa on Saturday the 17th came the confirmation that Michael Gracey (alongside Lionsgate studio and creator Masashi Kishimoto) will be heading the production for Naruto.  The public has yet to see a full length film come from Michael Gracey, as his current movie, The Greatest Showman, is not expected to be released until 2017. The announcement also confirmed some of the staff that will be joining the production. This includes that the screenwriters will be Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath (known for...

Nothing feels quite more welcoming for the upcoming anime season quite like the return of Konosuba. And for those who have yet to watch Konosuba, Crunchyropll describes it as: After a traffic accident, Kazuma Sato’s disappointingly brief life was supposed to be over, but he wakes up to see a beautiful girl before him. She claims to be a goddess, Aqua, and asks...

Attack on Titan Season 2 Confirmed for Spring 2017

This is a pleasant surprise. Yesterday we got an official release date for the second season of Kono Subarashii Sekai Ni Shukufuku Wo! (Konosuba). Today we got an even large announcement in that the long awaited Attack on Titan season 2 has been confirmed to be airing in the Spring of 2017. The news that Attack on Titan season 2 would air in the Spring of 2017 is something we had heard before. However, news about the continuation of the main anime series has been scarce to say the least (that news came out almost half a year ago), so we started to be a bit concerned that the series might be behind schedule and...

Konosuba Season 2 Air Date Announced

Monday’s are usually garbage but I find myself pretty happy on this particular Monday. Naturally so, as the second season of Kono Subarashii Sekai Ni Shukufuku Wo! (known forth as Konosuba) has had it’s premiere date confirmed! The second season of the fantasy, comedy, trapped-in-a-game series will premiere January 12th of 2017 at 1:05 AM JST. All of the voice actors (seiyu) for the main cast of Kazuma, Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness have been confirmed to be returning along with Wiz and Yunyun (who was only featured in the OVA). While no plans have been announced regarding the simulcasting of the series, there’s not a doubt in my mind that we will...

New Code Geass Movies and Possibly a Series Announced

So this is pretty huge news. On November 27th at an event celebrating the tenth anniversary of the October 10th premiere of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, news regarding the future of the Code Geass series was revealed. News that wasn’t expect by many and certainly not by myself.  Be warned, some events that are spoilers to the original series are addressed below. The first announcement came in regards to a planned series of Code Geass films. The trilogy of movies will encompass the content of the combined 50 episodes of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 (or at least what they can fit into three movies)....

5 Anime That Make You Want to Cry

Every once in a while you just need a story that brings a tear to your eye (or at least makes you feel anxious). Is it a bit masochistic to indulge in these dramas occasionally? Sure. But you definitely need these reality checks from time to time. So without further ado, here are five anime titles or movies that reduced us to tears at one point or another. Keep in mind though, this list contains spoilers so if you have yet to see these titles, just take note that they are on this list. Also, if we forgot your favorite tear jerker, then too bad, it may be in the next list....

Log Horizon: The West Wind Brigade Volume 3 Review

Oh the joys and struggles of The West Wind Brigade! Especially those well-endowed “joys”. If you don’t recall, The West Wind Brigade is a guild from Log Horizon led by Akihabara’s and the Round Table’s very own Soujiro Seta. The fiery and relentless dream boy followed by dozens of girls he would defend to his very last hit point. But I digress. More importantly, there is a puppy squad that searches for booby traps in this volume! The story picks up with Soujiro paralyzed on the ground in the hands Magus, a conniving adventurer who we learn is influencing the horde of player killers. The volume has a great opening...

Devil is a Part-Timer! High School! Volume 4 Review

I’ll start by being blunt; If you’re looking for the same quirky feeling the original series The Devil is a Part-Timer! left you with, then you might want to look elsewhere. Devil is a Part-Timer! High School! Volume 4 is similar to the original series in the characters it shares but differs in some significant ways. But I don’t mean to deter you, it has it’s own merits as well. The High School! spinoff reimagines the world of the devil king as a mundane high-schooler. In a much more condensed storyline, Maou and party are in a heated competition that will determine the school’s fate: the student council election! More...

Nanbaka Season 2 to be Simulcast on Crunchyroll

Interesteing news today coming from the official website for the anime adaptation of Nanbaka. The second season of the series has been confirmed to be a part of the 2017 Winter anime season and will begin airing in January of next year. The more interesting development is just how the show will be airing. From what we’ve gathered, it sounds like Nanbaka season 2 will be airing exclusively online rather than as part of a traditional block on television. The official site also released a promotional image for the second season of Nanbaka which you can see below: While the method of airing in Japan has changed, overseas it doesn’t sound like it’s going...

Bokksu November 2016 Unboxing and Review

This week we received a new subscription box from a company we have yet to come across, Bokksu. Bokksu, which comes in a little orange box, has a bit of a different perspective on the whole Japanese subscription box fad. Much like Snakku, they focus mainly on providing snacks that people from Japan actually eat. Not just your run-of-the-mill plethora that can be purchased from a corner store, Bokksu pairs this with a theme and a tea. Yes, that’s right, a tea. Out of all the others we have reviewed in the past, this is the first one to have a tea paring. So from that perspective is pretty neat....

World Trigger Author Takes Indefinite Hiatus

Bad news for fans of World Trigger. There were bad signs last week when fans found that the series was missing from last week’s issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and apparently the issue from last week has not yet been resolved. It seems that series creator Daisuke Ashihara has been rendered unable to work due to issues with his personal health. While it’s certainly sad to hear that Daisuke Ashihara is in a state where his health is keeping him from work, it’s not entirely surprising as the creator has had issues with his health in the past. Fans might remember that back in September of 2014, Ashihara had to take a week hiatus...
