Sentai Filmworks Licenses Three New Series for Spring 2017 Season

We haven’t seen a lot of competition for new series in the anime seasons since Crunchyroll and FUNimation became besties last year. However, that seems to be changing this season. Sentai Filmworks has announced the acquisition of three series (at the time of writing) that are airing as part of the Spring 2017 anime season. Each series will be simulcast on Anime Strike, Amazon’s dedicated anime streaming service. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the series Sentai Filmworks has grabbed for the upcoming season along with their provided synopses. Kabukibu! Unlike other kids his age, freshman Kurogo Kurusu finds his true passion in kabuki, a form of classical...

So give it a look here and be sure to follow him on Facebook. In the meantime see his shots below: Stick around for our other two albums of cosplayers...

Netflix Announces Death Note Release Date

Netflix has released the trailer for their adaptation of Death Note. Along with the trailer comes a release date of August 25. The trailer highlights Nat Wolff as Light Yagami Turner, as he discovers the titular notebook. Willem Dafoe makes a brief appearance as Ryuk, the mischievous shinigami with a penchant for apples. Reception to the trailer has been mixed. Many fans are questioning the direction of the film, which seems to be more action-focused than previous adaptations of the series. One thing that fans can agree on however, is Willem Dafoe’s portrayal of Ryuk. We will reserve judgment until the film is released in August, but based on audience reception, things...

Alongside the release day announcement, the website also featured a new visual featuring Alphonse Elric that you can see below: So far the quality of work done on Alphonse seems pretty solid. However, with the trailer that was released earlier this year (included below), we aren’t sure how this will actually turn out. With luck, it won’t be another live-action Attack on Titan.

Shawn Wasabi is Back with “Spicy Boyfriend”

If you read our prior post on Shawn Wasabi you would already know that we are big fans of his work as well as other artists like him. His rhythm on the Midi Fighter 64 is not a skill that a lot of artists have. Which is why some of us flock to his work and watch his YouTube channel like a hawk. After what has felt like forever (since Burnt Rice which was released in 2015) we have been finally graced with a new full track and video to accompany it. Check it out below, called “SPICY BOYFRIEND”. And in the last hour he has released a quick preview of...

Aooni The Animation Trailer Released

Good news for fans of horror series out there. The upcoming feature film adaption of AoOni (which translates Blue Demon) put out a new trailer today, which you can view below: The feature film will follow an original story line that borrows themes from the source material. And by themes, I mean the basic premise seems to be the same; a bunch of students (and a teacher) get trapped in a close quarters situation with a murderous, strangely-shaped blue monster that’s trying to kill them all. AoOni is something of an internet success story. What began as a freeware horror game available to all on the internet has grown in popularity to the...

December 2016 Bokksu Review

Gotta say, I’m a big fan of the kind people over at Bokksu. They’ve sent us yet another of their Japanese sweets boxes, this one being the December 2016 box. As we’ve mentioned before, Bokksu is a little different in that the focus of the box is to send you sweets and treats from specific regions in Japan. Less focus on what you may find anywhere in the country, more Mom & Pop sweet shop sorts of snacks. So without further delay, let’s jump on in to the review. One more small delay though. I have to mention this every time we get a box from Bokksu; the box and...
