Ajin: Demi-Human Volume 6 Review

Ajin: Demi-Human has been ramping up for a while now, and while the story is still leading up to some of my favorite moments, Ajin: Demi-Human Volume 5 has a few heavy-hitting moments. Gamon Sakurai isn’t afraid to delve deep into real world issues, and it really shows in the case of Izumi Shimomura, a detective on the Anti-Sato Ops. We’ve seen her around before, but in this volume we get a significant portion of the story dedicated to her history as an individual, and boy is it dark. Her past is riddled with traumatic experiences, from abuse and depression to suicide, making her easily one of the most troubled characters introduced thus far....

Now, this world wide launch will no happen until 3 days following the airing of Part 1 in Japan on MBS, TBS, and CBC in January. On top of the first part in the film series, according to the official website, the animated series will be available world-wide on September...

Ajin: Demi-Human Volume 5 Review

In the last volume of Ajin: Demi-Human, it became pretty clear as to what Sato was planning. He’s not simply content with living a normal life as a demi-human and hiding out of sight. No, unlike everyone else who wants to simply live their life, Sato wants to start a war. There are a lot more demi-humans than have actually been discovered, but the government doesn’t know about them because they want to live a peaceful and quiet life like your average human. He’s really the antithesis of the demi-humans we’ve seen so far throughout the series. That’s a big part of what makes Sato such a compelling villain, and...

Ajin: Demi-Human Trilogy Gets Teaser, Staff List

Yesterday we reported on the reveal that Ajin: Demi-Human would be getting an anime adaptation in the form of a film trilogy. Now, the first teaser has hit the internet, along with a list of staff that will be working on the project. The teaser which was uploaded to YouTube by King Records earlier today features a few clips from the upcoming film adaptation, offering a glimpse of both Kei Nagai and his IBM, which looks pretty good animated as you’d probably expect. The trilogy will be produced by Polygon Pictures, the studio responsible for bringing to life Knights of Sidonia, the second season of which will be debuting on...

Ajin: Demi-Human to Receive Anime Film Trilogy

Ajin: Demi-Human is finally getting an anime adaptation, but it’s not a television series. Instead, the series will be adapted as an anime film trilogy. This news comes from Kodansha’s Good! Afternoon magazine, as well as the most recent volume of the manga in Japan. The manga which is currently being written by Gamon Sakurai and published by Vertical here in North America tells the story of high schooler Kei Nagai as he realizes that he’s a demi-human, one of few immortal beings that are hunted, captured, and used for experimentation by governments around the world. Ajin: Demi-Human also came in at number four on our list of Five Titles to Read on...

Ajin: Demi-Human Volume 4 Review

We learned in volume 3 of Ajin: Demi-Human that Sato isn’t the nice guy that he makes himself out to be. In fact he’s pretty much the opposite. The man is a monster and this volume only solidifies that. It was pretty clear from the attack on the hospital that he was up to sinister and that finally starts coming to fruition here. Sato is a scary, scary individual. He’s not afraid to lie and he’s not afraid to murder but he isn’t content with stopping there. Instead, he aims to build up an army of demi-humans and take over Japan. It might have seemed like he was interested in peace...

Ajin: Demi-Human: Volume 3 Review

The last volume of Ajin: Demi-Human set Sato up as an interesting character that isn’t exactly as he seems and it left you wondering just what it was he was up to by freeing Kai Negai in the first place. He obviously didn’t want to help him, because he had no problem locking him up in the first place, but it’s clear he has something planned. In this volume you find out what that is and majority of the pages are spent on the breakout that began last time around. As it turns out, the whole reason for locking Kai up is to turn him against humanity so he can be...

Ajin: Demi-Human: Volume 2 Review

The first volume of Ajin: Demi-Human did a great job of introducing us to a thrilling world where immortality is a curse, not a blessing, and in the second volume you’ll begin to see just why that is. While the first volume talks briefly about the demi-humans and what they’re capable of, the second volume begins to introduce some of the logic behind it which is based on years of inhumane research done in secret. In the first volume we saw how demi-humans can be treated, both by other people and the government, but in this volume you get an idea as to just how bad it really is when...

Five Titles to Read on Crunchyroll Manga

With the recent news surrounding Crunchyroll’s move to allow more people access to their library of manga, what better way to celebrate than by offering a list of five titles you should be reading on Crunchyroll Manga? 5. Fuuka If you’re a sucker for music and romance, Fuuka will hit all the right notes. That is unless you’ve read Kouji Seo’s previous works, in which case the opinion at large seems to be that the series could have been handled a little better since it is directly connected to another story he did called Suzuka. As someone who falls into the category of both a romance fan and a music...
