Namco Bandai announced the release date for the latest Assassination Classroom video game today, and the game will be out in March, if you live in Japan. The game, titled Ansatsu Kyoshitsu: Assassin Ikusei Keikaku!! (Assassination Classroom: Assassin Raising Project!!) will task the player with taking on the role of a student of 3-E class, where you’ll have to take on the daily school life at Kunugigaoka Junior High. That will include taking tests, in addition to trying to assassination Koro-sensei while training with Nagisa, going on missions with Karma, and mingling with the rest of the class. According to ANN, the first run of the game will include codes for four exclusive...

Assassination Classroom Volume 5 Review

“We are killers. And our target? Our teacher. That is our Assassination Classroom.” The opening words by Nagisa Siota opens up one of the most ridiculous concepts that are VERY well done in anime or manga. An octopus-like superorganism that has the ability to disintegrate 70% of the moon threatens to do the same to the Earth… but not before taking over as a teacher for the class of 3-E, otherwise known as the End Class. As this review is going to be for Assassination Classroom Volume 5, there are spoilers ahead! In volume 5, 3-E is in the middle of the Kunugigaoka Junior High School sports exhibition games. The...

Assassination Classroom Announces Two Reveals

For fans of Assassination Classroom, today was a big day.  The first set of big news came the announcement of season 2! In a series of announcements (shown below) came the official confirmation. The show has already sparked one live-action film already which began airing in Japan on March 21st. The film itself has received an overwhelming amount of success and has already grossed over 21 million Dollars¹. Therefore, it makes it reasonable as to why there will be a second movie. For those who have yet to catch the show or read the manga, here is a quick plot description: The Earth is threatened by a powerful creature who destroyed...

Assassination Classroom Episode 12 Review

Episode 12: Ball Game Tournament Time It feels like it’s been a while since the last episode of Assassination Classroom, but now it’s back. With the second half of the season comes a new opening, but sadly it’s just as ridiculous as the first and perhaps even a little less interesting. The song is similar in that both openings had the class singing and the animation itself is also similar since the class is doing that dance again. The opening has been my least favorite part of Assassination Classroom so far, and since they decided to parallel the first opening with the second, it seems that it will remain that...

Assassination Classroom Episode 11 Review

Episode 11: Transfer Student Time/2nd Period The new transfer student that appeared at the end of episode 10 is finally here, and oh boy, is he scary. It was pretty obvious seeing him when he showed up that he was going to have some kind of powers, and now we know that he is apparently Koro Sensei’s brother. Interesting.   There’s quite a difference between the two of them, but I imagine that has to do more with the fact that Itona Horibe is just a child and Koro Sensei is obviously presented as an older individual. Whereas Koro Sensei is funny and easy going, Itona seems to be hellbent...

Assassination Classroom: Episode 10 Review

Episode 10 – L and R Time This week’s episode starts off in English class with the kids learning from Bitch Sensei the difference between L and R which one of the biggest issues when learning English as a secondary language with your primary language being Japanese. As it turns out, it’s a great segue into the introduction of a new character by the name of Lovro — a retired master assassin who taught Bitch Sensei the tools of the trade. He remarks upon how weak she’s become, teaching the kids of 3-E, before Koro Sensei shows up. To prove that she’s a good assassin, Koro Sensei proposes a mock...

Assassination Classroom: Episode 9 Review

Episode 9: Transfer Student Time The students are back from their field trip, and this time there’s a new student in class. But, as it turns out, they’re actually an artificial intelligence. I was looking forward to seeing the latest addition to 3-E, but like the class which they were to become a part of, I too had no idea it would be an artificial intelligence. It’s a little strange, but then, there’s really nothing ordinary about the class of 3-E, is there? Not with Koro Sensei teaching, anyway. And while the new student makes a ruckus with their assassination attempt, the students are quick to silence her before Koro Sensei can...

Assassination Classroom Episode 8 Review

Episode 8: School Trip Time/2nd Period The field trip continues in this episode, and now that the conflict has settled down there’s time for other things. The first half of this episode deals with the aforementioned assassination attempts which were to be made via sniper. The government hires a well-known assassin by the name of Red Eye, but unfortunately, he’s not enough to kill Koro Sensei. There are several tries throughout the episode, but none of them succeed, and it’s revealed later on that it’s because Koro Sensei knew Red Eye was there all along. He doesn’t have a ten billion yen bounty for nothing, which is exactly the conclusion...

Assassination Classroom Episode 7 Review

Episode 7: School Trip Time/1st Period   As you might be able to tell by the episode title, “School Trip Time/1st Period” takes the class of 3-E away from the school and into the wild for a field trip to Kyoto and it’s a welcome change of pace. Of course, I wasn’t the only one excited about the prospect. The class was as well — especially Koro Sensei, who creates a lengthy tour guide by hand and distributes it to each and every member of the class. It seems like a rather large book to lug around at first but it quickly becomes useful towards the end of the episode...

Assassination Classroom: Episode 6 Review

Episode 6: Test Time This time around the students of 3-E are gearing up for their mid-terms with the help of Koro Sensei, but as you might have guessed from the last episode, the dean won’t stand for that. Majority of this episode deals with the students preparing for their mid-terms with Koro Sensei doing everything he can to help by making clones of himself, and there’s even a Naruto reference in there which I thought was pretty funny. He spends a lot of time teaching the class and tutoring them in the areas they’re lacking in, and issues an ultimatum — every student has to break the top 50,...

Assassination Classroom: Episode 5 Review

Episode 5: Assembly Time  This episode starts off during chemistry class and as you might imagine, there’s a failed assassination attempt in there as well. Funnily enough, as usual, Koro-Sensei is quick to turn things around and turn them into something positive.  When Manami tries to give Koro-Sensei human poisons, they don’t do anything to him. Probably because he’s not human. So instead, he offers to teach her to make a special poison that will kill him and he ends up tricking her into making a potion that turns him into liquid instead. It’s a little bit strange, but then, that’s totally in line with Assassination Classroom and Koro-Sensei’s personality. He’s...

Top Six Worst Anime Intros

So I want to be clear, the way we evaluated everything on this list was whether or not: A) the song was terrible. B) the animation was terrible. C) both were equally horrendous. Now we dove through a bunch of anime to search for the worst of the worst. 6. Zombie Loan I worked within the live music scene for a while and I have heard quite a plethora of terrible voices, but this opening is at the apex of awful. The animation isn’t something to stick your nose up at, but the vocals absolutely butcher the momentum that the song had built within the first 30 or so seconds. 5. Psycho-Pass II...

Assassination Classroom: Episode 4 Review

Episode 4: Grown-Up Time It seems like the class of 3-E is getting bigger by the week, and this week we’re introduced to a new teacher — but predictably, she’s not exactly as she seems. This new teacher’s name is Irina Jelavic, but the class instead affectionately refers to her as Bitch-Sensei, presumably due to the way she acts for a good portion of this episode which serves as her introduction. Naturally, since her goal is to kill Koro-Sensei, I’m not her biggest fan, but like everyone else, she eventually begins to warm up to him. This is only after a failed assassination attempt and angering the classroom, however. Before...
