Netflix Announces Death Note Release Date

Netflix has released the trailer for their adaptation of Death Note. Along with the trailer comes a release date of August 25. The trailer highlights Nat Wolff as Light Yagami Turner, as he discovers the titular notebook. Willem Dafoe makes a brief appearance as Ryuk, the mischievous shinigami with a penchant for apples. Reception to the trailer has been mixed. Many fans are questioning the direction of the film, which seems to be more action-focused than previous adaptations of the series. One thing that fans can agree on however, is Willem Dafoe’s portrayal of Ryuk. We will reserve judgment until the film is released in August, but based on audience reception, things...

Say Hello To The Death Note PPAP Version You Didn’t Know You Wanted

In what can only be described as a bizarre internet obsession (let’s be honest here, there are all a little bizarre), “Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen” has taken the world by storm. The original artist PIKOTARO, released his video back in August. The original has amassed over 80 million in video views. So it was only a matter of time before a marketing team adopted it to capitalized on the recent phenomenon. Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on who you are), the team behind the new live-action Death Note movie (called Death Note Light up the New World) thought it would be a great idea to have Ryuk perform the track. If you thought the original one was...

Live Action Death Note Film Picked Up By Netflix

After the dismal performance of the new film Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice in the box office, Warner Bros was prone to get rid of a bunch of possibilities. This included films such as the promised Death Note film. Now, according to sources at Hollywood Insider, the live-action film has been picked up by the online streaming giant, Netflix. This is great news as the movie adaptation may have gone somewhere else; Netflix has yet to disappoint us, so hopefully this trend will continue. It was previously reported that the film would be directed by Adam Wingard and starring Nat Wolf as the leading role Light Yagami. For those who have missed out on...

Their anime collection has become increasingly impressive — and you don’t even have to upgrade to Hulu Plus to view several fantastic shows! Now, these shows aren’t ordered from good to greatest, since they’re all wonderful, but here are my top ten Hulu-hosted anime! There should be something for everyone here. 1. Cowboy Bebop This space-themed, philosophically-fueled anime is comprised of 26 episodes. If you enjoy the likes of Firefly, you might love Cowboy Bebop, its predecessor. When...

Music in Anime

Music plays a huge role in our daily lives. It can make or break our moods and enhances all forms of media. And since I’m a music fanatic, I figured I would shed some light on some of my favorites! Cowboy Bebop: No one can deny that Cowboy Bebop is the epitome of a perfect soundtrack to a series. The fact that the show is based around blues/jazz adds a dynamic element that entices jazz averse individuals to enjoy it. The intro alone is iconic, and manages to get the viewer excited for the upcoming episode. I personally really enjoy the hard bop style of the show for the action...
