Ariana Grande Joins the Cast of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius

In a press release today it was revealed that Ariana Grande (of all people) will be joining the ranks of characters in the Final Fantasy installment, Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. For those who have not heard of it before, Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is a free-to-play mobile game that originally debuted (worldwide) in June of 2016.  Ariana herself has stated, “it is an honor for my Pixel Art character and my music to be included in the new “Final Fantasy Brave Exvius” game, a mainstay in the Japanese pop culture, which I absolutely adore.” As an added result, Ariana Grande’s song “Touch It” will be making an appearance in the game. Not the actual...

Final Fantasy XIV Has Over 5 Million Players

Square Enix recently announced that massive multiplayer online role-playing game Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has more than 5 million registered accounts across the world. This includes accounts registered in Japan, North America, Europe, and China, but does not include any free trial accounts. In addition to this, during an event to mark the two-year anniversary of A Realm Reborn, Square Enix gave details about the game’s upcoming 3.1 patch. The patch adds new quests, new dungeons (Saint Mocianne Aboretum and Pharos Sirius), a new Primal Battle, and a new alliance raid dungeon called “Void Ark.” Players will also be able to earn experience points in the level 50 dungeons. The game...

Final Fantasy XV Gets Worldwide Launch

The upcoming video game Final Fantasy XV has been long awaited, even when it was originally known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII way back in 2006. In 2013, the game was renamed to the name it has today to much hype. During Gamescom last week, game director Hajime Tabata shared a bit about what is taking the game so long and what work needs to be done. “This may be something that we are [a] little bit embarrassed to talk about, but really, this is the first time that we’ve done a packaged, standalone Final Fantasy game with a simultaneous global launch, so we didn’t have the setup to deal with that, really.” [source]...

Final Fantasy XV Release Window Narrowed Down

In an exclusive sit-down with Gamespot, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata has confirmed that the title will see its release before 2017. The highly anticipated RPG will most likely land itself in Holiday 2016, which is right on schedule for Square-Enix. Hajime Tabata fell into this huge project after Tetsuya Nomura moved onto Kingdom Hearts and the newly announced Final Fantasy 7 remake. Since then, Tabata has faced the criticism of the hardcore fanbase surrounding the Final Fantasy series, particularly about the lacking updates coming out of Gamescom. “I understand why people are feeling that way after coming to Cologne and speaking to a lot of the media,” Tabata...

Final Fantasy Type-0 Is Coming To PC

Great news everyone! Square Enix has yet to slow down with the massive amounts of Final Fantasy news over the last couple of months. Along with getting Final Fantasy IV: the After Years on Steam on the 12th of May, we just heard last week that the smartphone game Final Fantasy Agito is coming to Windows 10. And if that didn’t get you excited for what Square has in store for the PC, then you should know that the PC is also getting Final Fantasy Type-0 HD! I suppose because standard definition wouldn’t have cut it for this “fast-paced action RPG combat”. That’s right; Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is coming...

Square Enix’s E3 2015 Press Conference Wrap Up

We’re finally through with the press conferences leading up to the main event, and Square Enix was last up after Nintendo. They had a lot to show, some of which we’ve already seen before, but I couldn’t stop freaking out anyway. Let’s get into it! Just Cause 3 Square Enix outed Just Cause 3 in an issue of Game Informer earlier this year, but today at their press conference it was announced that the game would be launching on December 1 this year. We’re halfway there guys. I spent a lot of time with Just Cause and Just Cause 2, so I can’t wait to get my hands on this....

Final Fantasy VII is Finally Getting a Remake

You read that headline, right? It’s official, Final Fantasy VII is getting a remake, and it’ll land on the PS4 first. Seriously! You might remember last year when Sony and Square Enix trolled us all by offering Final Fantasy VII on the PS4 as a port, but this is the real thing. I’ll say it again, Final Fantasy VII is getting a remake. You might have thought they were trolling with the last announcement, too, and maybe they were — but this is the real deal, and I couldn’t possibly be more excited. There’s no release date yet, but hopefully it’ll be soon. Now that we know it’s actually on...

Final Fantasy XI to End PS2/Xbox 360 Service Next Year

It’s been a long run for Final Fantasy XI, the Final Fantasy franchise’s first MMO. It was originally released in Japan back in 2002, making this year the game’s thirteenth anniversary. But all  good things must come to an end and it seems like that end will be next year for Final Fantasy XI — at least on the PS2 and Xbox 360. Don’t get too upset though, as the PC version of the game will continue to live on after that date. Only the PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 versions are getting nixed. Players of the PS2 and Xbox 360 versions of the game will have until March 2016 to...

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster Headed to PS4

If you missed out on the HD re-release of Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 last year, don’t fret. Actually you may be better off because the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is coming to the PS4 and it’s coming soon. The game was previously released on the PS3 and Vita, which means that this version will hopefully be the definitive one — at least until a PC release. The PlayStation 4 version will feature Remote Play with the Vita, which seems a little silly given the game has already been on the Vita for quite some time now, and you’ll also be able to share your saves in between PlayStation...

Here’s What That Final Fantasy XV Trailer From TGS Sounds Like in English

Remember the gorgeous trailer we saw for Final Fantasy XV at Tokyo Game Show a few months back? Well now it’s in English, and it would seem that yes, Final Fantasy XV is finally on its way. It’s hard to believe after the game has spent so long in development, but, well, here it is. The voices are nothing short of typical, but then who cares about that when we’re finally going to get our hands on the legend that is Final Fantasy XV? One would hope that the release comes with dual audio anyway, but of course we won’t know until the game is actually on shelves. Either way, Final Fantasy...

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Collector’s Edition to Include Manga and Soundtrack

If you’re as excited about the HD port of Final Fantasy Type-0 as we are, you’ll be happy to know that the game will be getting a collector’s edition complete with manga and soundtrack. That’s right, if you pick this baby up you’ll be getting a full 200-page manga which is pretty atypical as far as collector’s editions go. Don’t worry though, because they’re not omitting the artbook — you’ll get that too along with some replicas of cards from the game and a golden steelbook case! That’s a lot of stuff, and of course it comes at a premium of $99.99, which probably isn’t that bad considering what you’re...

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster Headed to the PS4 Spring 2015

In a move that probably surprises no one, Square Enix will be bringing their HD remaster of Final Fantasy X/X-2 to the PlayStation 4 in Spring of next year. The collection will retail for $49.99 if you’re in the United States and €39.99 if you’re in Europe. Originally released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita earlier this year, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster came a plethora of new features including remastered visuals, re-arranged music, trophies, cross-save compatibility, a CD and international content that was never released in North America. This announcement comes on top of the news which came out of PlayStation Experience last week that Square Enix would be releasing...

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Coming to PC Next Month, Promises to be a Better Port

Final Fantasy XIII made the jump to Steam last month and with plans to bring over the entire trilogy you’d think it would be done right, but according to the mixed reception the first game has received that might not be the case. Enter the sequel, Final Fantasy XIII-2, which now has a release date set for next month. One of the biggest with PC version of Final Fantasy XIII according to fans and critics was that the game was locked to 30 frames per second and 720 resolution which is acceptable when you’re dealing with consoles but not so when your game comes to Steam. Naturally an enterprising modder...

Solemn is Final Fantasy Type-0 HD’s New Trailer

A scarred land engulfed in the vicious flames of war, this is the imagery that Final Fantasy Type-0 HD conveys. Square Enix’s new cinematic trailer tells the tale of a bloody conflict between warring factions, relentlessly vying for control over an arcane crystal. The opening scene of the bloodied and battered soldier immediately sets the tone; war is ugly, it has consequences and permanence. As to how far Type-0 will go with these themes is yet to bet seen (unless you’ve played the Japanese release), but Square Enix have made it clear that they were going for a “realistic” and “mature” Final Fantasy. If it truly will be like this,...
