Blame! Anime Trailer Released by Netflix

Netflix has been on the prowl ever since their recent success with anime. Having several originals at this point, they are now adding Blame! to this list. As Netflix and Polygon Pictures have teamed up on the past two projects (Knights of Sidonia and Ajin: Demi-Human), it comes as no surprise that they are also doing the adaptation of Blame! together. The new series is expected to debut sometime in 2017. Blame! which is written by Knights of Sidonia author Tsutomu Nihei, was originally a manga series that first debuted in 1998. The series ran from then until 2003 and had 10 volumes in total. Check out the trailer below: Netflix describes the series as: In a distant dystopian...

Live Action Death Note Film Picked Up By Netflix

After the dismal performance of the new film Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice in the box office, Warner Bros was prone to get rid of a bunch of possibilities. This included films such as the promised Death Note film. Now, according to sources at Hollywood Insider, the live-action film has been picked up by the online streaming giant, Netflix. This is great news as the movie adaptation may have gone somewhere else; Netflix has yet to disappoint us, so hopefully this trend will continue. It was previously reported that the film would be directed by Adam Wingard and starring Nat Wolf as the leading role Light Yagami. For those who have missed out on...

Netflix Teams Up With Production IG for Perfect Bones Anime

Netflix has been on the rise with acquiring anime series as well dubbing a few of them (such as with titles like Knights of Sidonia and The Seven Deadly Sins). In their latest announcement, Netflix will be teaming up with animation studio Production IG and director Kazuto Nakazawa to create a 12 episode anime titled Perfect Bones. For those who are not aware, Production IG is the driving force behind several popular anime such as: Attack on Titan, Ghost in the Shell, Guilty Crown, and Psycho-Pass. Although this is not the first time Netflix has been delving into anime, it is comforting to see them partnering with a robust studio. Production IG has also stated their excitement...

Fate/Stay Night: UBW Dub Comes to Netflix

An interesting development for all you Fate fans out there. Netflix recently added Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works as part of the August update to the streaming service’s line up. The series being added to the Netflix queue wasn’t all too surprising as Fate/Zero has been on Netflix for years now, so it’s only natural that the sequel would follow along eventually. What is slightly more surprising, however, is that Netflix has now added the English dub version of the first season of Fate/Stay Night: UBW.  The dub coming to Netflix isn’t much of a shock, it a surprise because it hasn’t even been 10 days since the Japanese subbed version Fate/Stay Night: UBW. What’s more, Aniplex of...

Netflix is Coming to Japan

Through a video with Knights of Sidonia, media super giant Netflix, announced that they are entering the Japanese market. According to the video below, the expected launch date is on September 2. This means that Netflix will be acquiring more Japanese TV shows and film. And as always, this could include more anime. With access to the Japanese market this could also mean more anime exclusives (or originals depending on the licensing) similar to that of Knights of Sidonia. We can only hope this will further expand the potential possibilities and will make give everyone else in the world more opportunities. What do you all think? Let us know in the...

Knights of Sidonia Season 2 Review

After waiting for an entire year, reading the manga, and waiting the final agonizing months as it was airing in Japan, Knights of Sidonia season 2 (also known as Sidonia no Kishi or シドニアの騎士) has finally arrived in the United States! To sum it up, this season was exactly what I had hoped for and expected out of it. I understand most people’s hesitation when it comes to 3D animation in regards to anime, but believe me when I say that Polygon Pictures has nailed it with this season. The style may taking some used to but this season lives up and exceeds its predecessor. Fortunately, there are not too many deviations from the overall manga. To top...

Netflix Developing Legend of Zelda TV Series

Some somewhat surprising news coming from The Wall Street Journal today. The publication is reporting that Nintendo and Netflix are working together on developing a live action series based on the popular game series Legend of Zelda. The project is currently in the early stages of development, with no writers or staff are attached to as of yet. All we know right now, thanks to an unnamed source “working” closely with Netflix, is that they are describing the project  as “Game of Thrones” for a family audience. Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean the project is ever going to see the light of day, since neither Nintendo or Netflix have made...

The Devil is a Part-Timer! is finally available on Netflix!

One of our favorite recently aired animes is now available on Netflix. The Devil is a Part-Timer! is an interesting and quirky story that we at BentoByte highly recommend checking out. I know Matt and I have re-watched that show over and over again several times since it’s debut in April of 2013. So if you are looking for a simple anime that makes fun of someone as important as the devil being stuck in a very mundane position, then this is for you. We have included a brief plot synopsis below, please note though the synopsis contains spoilers for the first episode: “The Demon Lord and one of his...
