Noragami Aragoto Season Review

After finishing Noragami Aragato, all I could think of was the following analogy; Noragami Aragoto is to Noragami as The Empire Strikes Back is to A New Hope. The fact that Aragato and Empire are both direct sequels makes this obvious. But there’s more to this analogy than that. Noragami Aragato has the benefit of being in an established world with characters the viewer is presumed to know, a benefit that many sequels have of course. Aragato excels in knowing just how much to use this benefit to its advantage without letting things get stagnant. This was especially true in the development of characters this season, particularly the gods in...

Top 8 Most Anticipated Fall 2015 Anime

Now that everything has aired for the Fall 2015 anime season we have taken the time to collect our thoughts and think about what our favorites are so far. This list will not contain any series that are rolling over from the last season (sorry Ushio and Tora). However, series that have been on hiatus for at least a season are permitted. That being said, here they are: 8. The Asterisk War   Although Asterisk War may have had an almost identical start to that of Chivalry of a Failed Knight and falls into a magical high school category that’s become a bit over saturated, Asterisk War feels like it has a chance to be...

Noragami Episode 13 Review

Episode 13: Bearing a Posthumous Name After over a year of waiting, Noragami is back with Notagami Aragato! Even though we’re only one episode in I think it’s safe to say the feel of the show hasn’t changed at all. Which bodes well for this season as I was a big fan of the first. Noragami’s take on traditional Japanese gods is one of the more unique I’ve seen in anime and I quite enjoy it. From the promotions about the series and now seeing the first episode it’s obvious that this season that we’re looking at an arc largely focused on Bishamon, her hatred for Yato and the history that...

Noragami Phone Game Coming in Fall

Sakura Soft, a Japanese mobile app developer, announced at a Noragami event held on August 8th that it is developing a smartphone game titled Noragami ~Kami to Enishi~ (Noragami ~Gods and Fate~). In addition to this news, they also launched a teaser site for the upcoming game along with a key visual. It will be a free-to-play “card battle RPG,” but it is confirmed that users will be able to buy in-game items with real money. The game is planned to launch in Fall of 2016 and it will be the first smartphone game created for this franchise. Adachitoka, the creators of the series, launched the manga in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine in 2010. Following the...

From what’s been said the new season will be focused on the Bishamon arc of the manga, which makes me pretty excited. Bishamon was certainly part of the first season but didn’t really get that much attention....

Noragami Review

So since we wrote an article announcing Noragami’s arrival on Netflix about a week ago, I’ve watched the series and since it’s a 2014 anime I figure a (somewhat late) review is called for. Noragami is focused on gods (kami) within Japan, namely those of Japan’s native Shinto religion. There are many renowned gods in Shinto, such as the god of learning Tenjin or goddess of the sun Amaterasu, but Noragami follows an unknown “up and coming” god named Yato. Yato performs odd jobs for chump change, and during one such job meets the catty human girl Hiyori Iki. Hiyori saves Yato from being struck by a car, or so...
