Preorders Open for PSYCHO-PASS Dominators

Last weekend at the Silicon Valley Comic Con, Cerevo (that’s Consumer Electronic REVOlution) revealed that a replica model of the Dominator, the signature firearm from the Dystopian Sci-Fi anime series PSYCHO-PASS, is ready for the US market. I have to say, it’s an impressive display that features over a hundred sound clips from the anime that only exemplify how authentic this Dominator looks and feels. Cerevo details the Dominator as: Automatic Transformation Between Paralyzer and Eliminator Mode This product has been created under the supervision of Production I.G director Naoyoshi Shiotani and Nitroplus designer Makoto Ishiwata. DOMINATOR features characteristics identical to the devices seen in PSYCHO-PASS such as automatic transformation, voiceover...

BentoByte Sunday Sounds: Volume 10

This is the tenth volume of BentoByte’s Sunday Sounds. I can’t believe that we’ve been here for ten weeks, listening to some music. For today’s volume, I’ve got some of my favorite anime openings and endings for you. So let’s get this show on the road! miiro AKINO from bless4 Now, if you all haven’t been keeping up with Kantai Collection, that’s okay; when the show wraps up, I’ll be doing a season review of it for the readers (hint: it’s a good show). The show is good on two fronts: one, it’s a definite sleeper hit in that people who simply glance at it are going to miss out on...

Top Six Worst Anime Intros

So I want to be clear, the way we evaluated everything on this list was whether or not: A) the song was terrible. B) the animation was terrible. C) both were equally horrendous. Now we dove through a bunch of anime to search for the worst of the worst. 6. Zombie Loan I worked within the live music scene for a while and I have heard quite a plethora of terrible voices, but this opening is at the apex of awful. The animation isn’t something to stick your nose up at, but the vocals absolutely butcher the momentum that the song had built within the first 30 or so seconds. 5. Psycho-Pass II...

BentoByte Sunday Sounds: Volume 4

BentoByte is back for the fourth volume of Sunday Sounds. So everybody strap in and let’s get this show on the road. High Heel Shoes In Pink Kayo Ishu This song stands out to me. I used to perform in musical theatre, and this song sounds like something straight out of a musical. The held notes, the lyrics themselves, and the slow-paced production brings me back to those days. Hard to believe that this song is the lead song on an anime soundtrack. [C]: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control was a very different anime from what I usually watch, but it was still enjoyable. I’m all for different...

Psycho-Pass II: Episode 11 Stream & Review

Episode 11: What Color? This episode put me on the fence. However, I did enjoy the season as a whole. Psycho-Pass II did manage to do a bunch of things right, but I did take issue with one of the events that transpired. I know there will be a movie coming up to resolve some of the unanswered questions, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I have to like how certain situations were handled. For instance, my main (and really only) complaint is how Mika betrayed Akane and has managed to keep it a secret without it affecting her Psycho-Pass. I felt like this sub-plot was left on wierd note. Maybe it may just be...

Psycho-Pass II: Episode 10 Stream & Review

Episode 10: Gauging the Soul Things are certainly gearing up for the finale with this exciting episode. With Kamui flooding a subway and crafting a clever way to get to Sybil and Kasei ordering Akane to assassinated Kamui the show should be set for an explosive ending. There was a few moments where they lost me for a moment, however, the show has managed to do a great job keeping me invested in what will come in the finale. Building off of the brilliance of Kamui that was brought up in the review from last week. It is interesting to see Kamui conduct his experiment to discover a bypass to locate Sybil....

Psycho-Pass II: Episode 9 Stream & Review

Episode 9: Omnipotence Paradox The best way to describe this week’s episode is: fucked up. Since this post comes a bit of a later time I have seen a lot of hate for this show recently and I don’t really think it is well deserved. It is a hard to follow up the 1st season. The only negative I have with this episode (or this season for that matter) is the behavior of Mika and her being forced into the aid of the villains. Outside of that, the large mass killings and the infiltration of the Sybil system has been majorly intriguing and compelling. And with Akane’s grandmother being kidnapped it...

New Visuals and Trailer for Psycho-Pass

Yesterday on Twitter, new visuals and a brand new trailer for the Psycho-Pass film was released. The video trailer can be found below (if you have not caught up on the second season of the show we would recommend waiting). The aspect about the film image we like the most is the use of Shinya Kogami. We are not sure how or in what capacity he will be involved, but either way, we are super excited for the movie to come out following the end of this season.

Psycho-Pass II: Episode 7 Stream & Review

Episode 7: Untraceable Children The episode may have delivered some earth shattering news by it’s conclusion, but the rest of the episode was spent mainly filling the gaps for the MWPSB. Don’t get me wrong, there were some earth shattering plot developments by the end of the episode. However, the rest of the episode was rather slow. So I’m going to apologize ahead of time, but this review is going to be brief. The main thing I want to touch upon is the reveal at the end of the episode. We were searching for more reasons and evidence that Kamui was similar to Makishima, and it was hand delivered to us....

Psycho-Pass II: Episode 6 Stream & Review

Episode 6: Those Who Cast Stones I want to point out the pure genius of the newest villain Kamui. He has managed to completely brain wash an inspector, hack government killer drones (and the MWPSB’s drones) and disguise it as a game, subsequently raise the overall crime coefficient of a city, and finally collect dominators during this whole period. He is clever, and that is exactly why I love him as a villain. Another thing that the creators have managed to do is kill off every minor supporting character (not the ones in division 1) within a single episode, which is no small feat. And an interesting choice being that...

Psycho-Pass II: Episode 5 Stream & Review

Episode 5: Unforbidden Games Psycho-Pass has managed to do a lot within a mere 5 episodes. We have experienced an Inspector being exploded, Stockholm syndrome, hostile takeovers of para-military drones, unhealthy obsessions, and reconstructive surgery that has been creating duplicates of individuals. I’ll admit it is a lot to take in, but the implications and what it means for the show is thrilling. I’ll do my best to tackle everything that transpired within this past episode. Obviously within the first 2 minutes we see that Shisui has been won over by Kamui. What with the massive amount of drugs he has been feeding her, compounded with the incredible amount of Stockholm Syndrome...

Psycho-Pass II: Episode 4 Stream & Review

Episode 4: The Salvation of Job How to best describe this episode? Well, essentially, shit hit the fan and people died. And that is to be expected given the nature of the show, but this particular death bothered me. Aoyanagi was a character that they had spent at least a little amount of time developing and giving an interesting back story to. I can’t say that I was surprised she died, more surprised about when she died. I’ve experienced a lot of characters being ripped away abruptly (for instance: Knights of Sidonia, Terra Formars, or Akame ga Kill), but for some reason this particular death seemed too soon. I would...

Psycho-Pass II: Episode 3 Stream & Review

Episode 3: The Devil’s Proof Psycho-Pass has managed to delve right back into its roots. The episode starts out right with the introduction of the newest villain, Kirito Kamui. He seem to be a bit of a different kind of crazy mastermind than his predecessor Makishima. It is unclear what his motivations are yet but one this is sure his abilities are what intrigues me. The ability to calm people down to the point where their hue remains permanently clear is not something to be underestimated. We finally find the missing inspector Shisui in an impossible situation, an eye missing and her own dominator pointed at her chest. With her...
