Ariana Grande Joins the Cast of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius

In a press release today it was revealed that Ariana Grande (of all people) will be joining the ranks of characters in the Final Fantasy installment, Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. For those who have not heard of it before, Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is a free-to-play mobile game that originally debuted (worldwide) in June of 2016.  Ariana herself has stated, “it is an honor for my Pixel Art character and my music to be included in the new “Final Fantasy Brave Exvius” game, a mainstay in the Japanese pop culture, which I absolutely adore.” As an added result, Ariana Grande’s song “Touch It” will be making an appearance in the game. Not the actual...

Hikaru Utada to Return for Kingdom Hearts III Theme

If you’ve played through the main entries in the Kingdom Hearts series. then you know that Hikaru Utada is a big part of the games. Her music has been featured throughout the series, but majority of the games outside of Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II use remixes of the music from those games. It’s a bit of a tradition. If you’ve seen Rogue One recently, then it’s an apt comparison to say that it’s similar to the way Disney is handling the Star Wars franchise. Hikaru Utada is a bit like the crawl and a John Williams score for Kingdom Hearts, which is to say that when Hikaru Utada gets...

Kingdom Hearts HD Remix Series Coming to PS4

The Kingdom Hearts HD Remix series is about to make the jump to PS4, which is great news for both new fans of the series and fans who want to relive the franchise before jumping into the third main entry in the series. Rather than port over Kingdom Hearts HD Remix 1.5 and 2.5 separately, Square Enix will be releasing the games together for the PS4 as Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix. Both games will come on one disc, and include the same content as the PS3 versions. So if you’re satisfied with your PS3 copy of the game, then no need to upgrade, although there’s probably a...

Bravely Second Trailer Previews New Jobs

Today, the official Nintendo UK YouTube channel began streaming a new trailer for Square Enix’s Bravely Second: End Layer, the upcoming sequel to the massively popular JRPG Bravely Default. This new trailer reveals new jobs (or classes for those of you who are uneducated) within the sequel, something that is of great importance to any fan of the series. The video also previews everything that comes with the game’s collector’s edition. Check out the trailer for yourself below: As the video states, the addition of twelve new jobs brings the total job count up to a whopping thirty. Some of you might say that that’s only six more classes than what was available in...

Final Fantasy XIV Has Over 5 Million Players

Square Enix recently announced that massive multiplayer online role-playing game Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has more than 5 million registered accounts across the world. This includes accounts registered in Japan, North America, Europe, and China, but does not include any free trial accounts. In addition to this, during an event to mark the two-year anniversary of A Realm Reborn, Square Enix gave details about the game’s upcoming 3.1 patch. The patch adds new quests, new dungeons (Saint Mocianne Aboretum and Pharos Sirius), a new Primal Battle, and a new alliance raid dungeon called “Void Ark.” Players will also be able to earn experience points in the level 50 dungeons. The game...

Kingdom Hearts 3 Set to Include Big Hero 6 World

Disney’s extravagant expo, D23, is home to some big announcements for all the franchises under Mickey’s umbrella, but has notably lacked any major news for Kingdom Hearts 3 fans. D23 saw the release of the first batch of pre-alpha gameplay footage for the game, so fans held hope that the event would come with some big news. Their hopes were met with the news that a world based on the film Big Hero 6 was coming to Kingdom Hearts 3. The reveal came in the form of a video featuring a Walt Disney Animation producer sitting on a stool and talking about how great Big Hero 6 is. I think...

Final Fantasy XV Gets Worldwide Launch

The upcoming video game Final Fantasy XV has been long awaited, even when it was originally known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII way back in 2006. In 2013, the game was renamed to the name it has today to much hype. During Gamescom last week, game director Hajime Tabata shared a bit about what is taking the game so long and what work needs to be done. “This may be something that we are [a] little bit embarrassed to talk about, but really, this is the first time that we’ve done a packaged, standalone Final Fantasy game with a simultaneous global launch, so we didn’t have the setup to deal with that, really.” [source]...

Final Fantasy XV Release Window Narrowed Down

In an exclusive sit-down with Gamespot, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata has confirmed that the title will see its release before 2017. The highly anticipated RPG will most likely land itself in Holiday 2016, which is right on schedule for Square-Enix. Hajime Tabata fell into this huge project after Tetsuya Nomura moved onto Kingdom Hearts and the newly announced Final Fantasy 7 remake. Since then, Tabata has faced the criticism of the hardcore fanbase surrounding the Final Fantasy series, particularly about the lacking updates coming out of Gamescom. “I understand why people are feeling that way after coming to Cologne and speaking to a lot of the media,” Tabata...

Square Enix’s E3 2015 Press Conference Wrap Up

We’re finally through with the press conferences leading up to the main event, and Square Enix was last up after Nintendo. They had a lot to show, some of which we’ve already seen before, but I couldn’t stop freaking out anyway. Let’s get into it! Just Cause 3 Square Enix outed Just Cause 3 in an issue of Game Informer earlier this year, but today at their press conference it was announced that the game would be launching on December 1 this year. We’re halfway there guys. I spent a lot of time with Just Cause and Just Cause 2, so I can’t wait to get my hands on this....

Bravely Second Heading to North America in 2016

You remember Bravely Default, right? The RPG from Square Enix was a great return to form, featuring classic turn-based mechanics while also bringing some new ideas to the table. Our own Matt Boss picked it as one of the best games of 2014, and for good reason. In other words, if you haven’t played it, you need to. If you still somehow haven’t gotten around to it, maybe this news will change your mind. The sequel, cleverly titled Bravely Second: End Layer, will be hitting North America in 2016. Of course, if you didn’t know, the Bravely Second will feature an all new original cast and characters. That means that you...

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster Headed to PS4

If you missed out on the HD re-release of Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 last year, don’t fret. Actually you may be better off because the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is coming to the PS4 and it’s coming soon. The game was previously released on the PS3 and Vita, which means that this version will hopefully be the definitive one — at least until a PC release. The PlayStation 4 version will feature Remote Play with the Vita, which seems a little silly given the game has already been on the Vita for quite some time now, and you’ll also be able to share your saves in between PlayStation...

Nosgoth Going Into Open Beta Next Week

Let’s be honest, Nosgoth isn’t a game that currently has a large barrier to entry. But, if you’ve been waiting to get in on the Nosgoth action, your chance is coming because next week on the 21st the game will finally be going into open beta for everyone to try. That’s right, humans and vampires will be battling it out en mass thanks to what will hopefully be a massive influx of new recruits. If we’re being honest, it’s definitely needed — the matchmaking isn’t the best, so hopefully more people will correct that. In order to prepare for the game’s open beta launch, the servers will go down for...

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Playstation 4 Announced

Square Enix made an announcement today that along with the new release of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD there will also be a Suzaku Edition Playstation 4 (pictured below)! The console will be available for purchase the same date that the new game releases (which is March 19, 2015 by the way). Also released this week was the English subbed trailer for Final Fantasy Type-0 (also featured below). Since I have never personally had the opportunity to play this game, I am very excited to get my hands on a copy of it! Here is a brief plot synopsis to entice you into trying the game out: The year 842 is the beginning...
