God Eater 2: Rage Burst Review

God Eater 2: Rage Burst is a monster hunter-style action RPG that surprisingly has enough variety and tasks to keep you occupied for hours. This was my first time experiencing the franchise’s game and I am glad considering how satisfied I was with the gameplay. Set three years after the events of the original God Eater Burst, you begin your journey as a newly qualified God Eater joining an elite squad known as Blood. For those that are unfamiliar with the game or anime, God Eaters are super-soldiers who wield powerful weapons known as God Arcs used to battle and destroy monsters known as Aragami. Thankfully you are able to dive...

Deadly Tower of Monsters Review

When Deadly Tower of Monsters was announced, it had a lot going for it. There was plenty of charm, and even more b-movie references. As a film buff, I was excited to see what ACE Team could do with in their latest outing. After all, there’s so much you can do when you’re working with a classic science fiction style. Unfortunately, it takes more than charming humor to make a good game. To have a good game, you need to have good gameplay. While Deadly Tower of Monsters has a compelling setting, that’s about all it has going for it as the rest of the game is brought down by its many faults. As soon as you...

What Does 2016 Have in Store for Destiny?

Destiny’s final expansion, The Taken King, has been out for a few months now. Most people have probably worked their way through a majority of the base content, and for a game that’s heavily inspired by MMOs, that can become a problem. Destiny might not exactly be an MMO, but thanks to the way that the game is designed, a lot of people like to think of it as one. I’m one of those people. Ever since the game was originally demonstrated at E3 back in 2013, it was touted as being a hybrid FPS-MMO for consoles. To what extent was unknown at the time, but just over a year...

Bravely Second Trailer Previews New Jobs

Today, the official Nintendo UK YouTube channel began streaming a new trailer for Square Enix’s Bravely Second: End Layer, the upcoming sequel to the massively popular JRPG Bravely Default. This new trailer reveals new jobs (or classes for those of you who are uneducated) within the sequel, something that is of great importance to any fan of the series. The video also previews everything that comes with the game’s collector’s edition. Check out the trailer for yourself below: As the video states, the addition of twelve new jobs brings the total job count up to a whopping thirty. Some of you might say that that’s only six more classes than what was available in...

Mighty No. 9 Delayed to Spring

Say it isn’t so! But it is. Today, Keiji Inafune announced on the Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter page that the spiritual successor to the beloved Megaman series has been delayed once again. The game has been pushed well beyond its’ original anticipated release in April of 2015. This means that the new expected release is about a full year past backers expectations, which many have made clear that they are not at all happy about. The root of the newest delay seems to be linked to the game’s multiplayer or network modes, with problems being specifically cited with matchmaking. Inafune states that because the engine used in the game is no longer being updated which leaves...

Bayonetta and Corrin Join Smash Bros Roster

Today marked the final Nintendo Direct that would be entirely focused on Super Smash Bros. for the WiiU and Nintendo 3DS. Considering that previous Nintendo Direct’s focused on Super Smash Bros. ran for over half an hour, it was a pretty safe to assume that this final presentation would be we were going to be getting a lot of information as well as some final reveals for the title. It was a safe assumption. The video revealed two new characters joining the roster, details on Cloud Strife of Final Fantasy VII, and lots of other additions. Let’s start with the biggest surprise; Bayonetta is joining the roster! She looks like she’s going to...

The Deadly Tower of Monsters Will Have Much Free-Falling

A new trailer for The Deadly Tower of Monsters has been let loose, and it showcases a lot of our favorite director along with what seems to be a lot of free-falling action. Considering the latest trailer on the subject, I’m inclined to say that free-falling will play a big part in the game. It looks like it could be fun! Now to get Tom Petty out of my head. ATLUS describes the game: Green screen! Lasers! And a tower full of deadly monsters! When Dick Starspeed crash-lands his rocket on the planet of Gravoria, he’ll have to fight through dinosaurs, nukular ants, and other skilled, costumed stuntmen to make it up the deadly...

Star Wars Battlefront Review

I will start this out by saying this, I absolutely LOVE the first two Star Wars Battlefront games. They had a bunch of great and refreshing elements, such as the 501st campaign, space battles, galactic conquest, and plenty of maps to choose from. EA’s Star Wars Battlefront has none of those things. I won’t say this is unexpected, given all the press releases that came out about the game. Even though this content was removed, I remained ever hopeful for the new title. What I got on the launch night after downloading the 25 gigabyte game was mixed feelings. It is just like the beta, so all the expectations I had from...

Biohazard Umbrella Corps Trailer Streamed

The official Playstation Japan YouTube channel released the first official trailer for Biohazard Umbrella Corps this Wednesday.  Just in case you’re unaware, Biohazard is the name the Resident Evil series goes by in Japan. The new trailer features some of the weapons and skills players will be able to utilize in Biohazard Umbrella Corps (which will likely be Resident Evil Umbrella Corps overseas). This includes the Zombie Biel, Analog Cover, Zombie Eisen, Zombie Shield, and the Zombie Jammer. The trailer sells the point that Biohazard Umbrella Corps will force players to adapt to fighting in a manner that focuses on quickly changing between ranged and close quarters combat. While the game is certainly set in the Resident Evil/Biohazard universe, Biohazard Umbrella Corps doesn’t seem like...

Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires on Vita Comes West

According to a press release from Koei Tecmo America, the PlayStation Vita version of Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires is coming West later this year. The latest entry in the tactical hack and slash series was released for Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox One and Steam earlier this year.  Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires will be available for purchase on November 24th (2 days earlier than release in Japan I might add) and will be released exclusively as a digital download. The handheld version will feature perks from the original console versions of the game and more. Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires will support the cross-play and cross-save functions with both the Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 as well as touchscreen...

The Latest Attack on Titan Game Looks Pretty Gory

We saw bits and pieces of the latest Attack on Titan game from Koei Tecmo and Omega Force when the game was announced last month, but nothing really substantial. The latest trailer doesn’t really  have much to offer, particularly when it comes to gameplay, but it does give another great look at the titans as well as some actual titan slaying. It’s worth noting, however, that it’s only the first preview. There will of course be more to come in the future! Based on the footage in the trailer below, it certainly looks like they’ve nailed the titan combat, but it’ll be a while yet before we get our hands on the game...

New Splatfest Brings Transformers to Splatoon

You’re a kid now; you’re a squid now. At least that’s what I’ve been hearing ever since Splatoon hit the market in May. Seriously, that gets stuck in your head way too easily. At any rate, Splatoon has seen the most success out of any title yet to be on the WiiU, excluding games like Smash and other Mario titles. To add even more success onto that, Splatoon players will now have the option to go “in disguise” in the new Splatfest! Nintendo and Hasbro have come to an agreement and have said that Transformers will be the next theme in their “Splatfest” mode. This will divide teams into Autobots and Decepticons,...

Dark Souls Beaten By Player Using Only His Voice

While I’m a huge fan of every entry in the Souls series, Dark Souls will always hold a special place in my heart. Partly because it was the Souls game that really pulled me into the series and beat for the first time, but also I believe that it’s still the best Souls game there is. I’ve found Dark Souls to be more fun and challenging that it’s predecessor Demon’s Souls, as well as the entries that have followed, Dark Souls II and Bloodborne. With the Souls games being known for their difficulty, it’s only natural that some players would be interested in making an already intense experience drastically more so. Of all the players ramping up...
