Pokemon GO: What is Abstract Advertising?

When you think of mobile advertisements, I’m sure the first thing that came to your mind was annoying banner ads at the bottom of your screen. Or it is for me. But, in the case of Pokemon Go, Niantic Labs dropped another bomb shell this month for all the Pokemon trainers out there. Niantic Labs has now teamed up with McDonald’s to put gyms on over three thousand locations. This is where “abstract advertising” comes in. The approach that Niantic Labs is taking is considerably more intelligent and well thought out than you typical advertisement paired with mobile games. It’s a way for Niantic Labs to make money without invasive ads that are just...

Team Fortress 2: Meet Your Match

“TEAM PYRO!” That’s what you will be hearing kids shouting into their microphones for days to come. Speaking of things to come, the new Team Fortress 2 update has come to Steam and brought with it a new interface for TF2 that might be overwhelming at first glance. So I’m here to make it easier on you!First I should mention is that the miracle workers over at valve created a whole new interface, and it will be the first thing you notice I’m sure. Another change that has come with this update is the introduction to a new matchmaking system. I see it as a glass half full.  A leveling system has...

Mighty No. 9 Browser Game Available to Play

For those that are still angry or upset that Mighty No. 9 was further delayed, Comcept has extended something of an olive branch. On Monday, the developer released a Mighty No. 9 browser game titled Mighty No. 9 Ganbare! Beck (roughly translated to Mighty No. 9 Go For it Beck!) on Yahoo! Japan. Mighty No. 9 Ganbare! Beck is an extremely simple title. The only control the player has to input is using the left mouse button to make Beck jump or double jump to avoid enemy attacks. While fun, the most enjoyment I got from the game was seeing all of the bosses that Beck will face in the full Mighty No. 9 game. Mighty No. 9...

The game is planned to launch in Fall of 2016 and it will be the first smartphone game created for this franchise. Adachitoka, the creators of the series, launched the manga in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine in 2010. Following the...

Nosgoth Going Into Open Beta Next Week

Let’s be honest, Nosgoth isn’t a game that currently has a large barrier to entry. But, if you’ve been waiting to get in on the Nosgoth action, your chance is coming because next week on the 21st the game will finally be going into open beta for everyone to try. That’s right, humans and vampires will be battling it out en mass thanks to what will hopefully be a massive influx of new recruits. If we’re being honest, it’s definitely needed — the matchmaking isn’t the best, so hopefully more people will correct that. In order to prepare for the game’s open beta launch, the servers will go down for...

The First Official Expansion for Hearthstone is Goblins vs. Gnomes

Earlier this year on Hearthstone we got a huge content update in the form of Curse of Naxxramas — but it wasn’t an expansion, it was just an adventure, the first of many single-player portions to come to the game. Now we’re getting a real expansion, and it’s called Goblins vs. Gnomes.  It will also be out next month, and feature a whopping 120 new cards. If you thought it was difficult to acquire all of the cards, you might have some real trouble now. The above trailer serves as a bit of teaser while also offering up a nice little tune that’s sure to get stuck in your head....
