So, if you haven’t heard, the Deadpool movie has finally been confirmed and is now slated for a 2016 release. The movie has been what is essentially movie purgatory for years, so it’s amazing that we’ve finally got a date (at least a year) for the movie’s release. It is also being said that the movie is slated to be PG-13, which isn’t all to surprising. Teenagers being unable to see the movie wouldn’t exactly be good for box office. The aim is to make sure the movie captures Deadpool appropriately, and really the only thing it will be unable to do is grotesque violence. While seeing Deadpool get horrible mangled, regenerate and kick ass would have been amazing, it’s not worth not getting a movie over. Apparently, the movie may never have escaped purgatory if it hadn’t been for the test footage leak weeks ago. According to Rob Liefeld, the creator of the Merc with a Mouth (Deadpool. Obviously.):
“I absolutely believe that the leaked footage served as one of those signature moments when fandom united across all social media platforms and made their voices heard. Can you imagine if the masses had disapproved of the footage? In this ruthless take down culture … it could have been ugly. Fortunately for all involved, it broke on the overwhelmingly positive side. It was a tidal wave of unbridled enthusiasm.”
If you haven’t seen the leaked footage, take a look. It looks pretty glorious, and honestly PG-13. If they can maintain this caliber, I’ll be happy.
I love Deadpool. Are you excited for a Deadpool movie? Lemme know below.Tweet
