For fans of Tokyo Ghoul, the 46th issue of Weekly Young Jump has a two helpings of good news. A new manga series, entitled Tokyo Ghoul:re, is going to release its’ first chapter in the 46th issue. Along with the new manga series, the 46th issue confirms that a second season of the Tokyo Ghoul television anime is set to premiere in January. This news was somewhat teased to us last month, when the official Chinese website for the anime listed a second season, which was taken down shortly after being posted.
Tokyo Ghoul follows a young man named Ken Kaneki in a world similar to our own with one major difference: the existence of ghouls. Ghouls look like humans, act like humans and live like humans, except that they are unable to eat human food, with their diet consisting of human flesh instead. If you haven’t seen the first season, it’s available to watch on Funimation’s streaming service as well as Hulu (Maybe Hulu Plus?), and is definitely worth checking out. I felt the anime series ended somewhat abruptly, so having confirmation that it’s getting another season is nice. While I haven’t finished the manga, I’ve heard from a few people that the ending wasn’t exactly satisfying, and while they expected a new series to be released, it’s good to know that this isn’t limited to speculation anymore.Tweet
