Last month Atlus dropped a bombshell by announcing that they would be localizing Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains. Everyone was thrilled but we were left with no release date other than sometime in May. Today, however, Atlus has finally confirmed the release date and they also dropped a new trailer.

The new trailer showcases the playable characters from Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains, which includes several of the characters you know and love from the manga and the anime. Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Levi, and Sasha will all be playable in the upcoming game.

As for the release date, it’s probably closer than you were expecting. The game will be available for download via the eShop on the 3DS starting on May 12. That’s just under two weeks from now! It will be priced at the typical $39.99 and will also come with a free Attack on Titan theme for the 3DS. The theme is exclusive to those who pick up the game and will not be sold separately.

That’s not the only bit of news though. Perhaps equally as interesting, the game has been renamed as Shingeki no Kyojin: Humanity in Chains in Europe, taking the Japanese title for the series. According to the press release, this is thanks to a copyright claim in Europe. Now for the really bad news. Unfortunately, thanks to this issue, the game has been delayed in Europe indefinitely.

Don’t freak out yet though! The game hasn’t been cancelled for Europe and Atlus is working on getting the game released there as soon as possible. You’ll just have to wait a little while longer. Of course, we will keep you posted when a European release date is announced.

A simple search on trademarks for Attack on Titan in Europe reveals that Kodansha’s application for the trademark was opposed earlier this year in February by a company called PT Entertainment Services Limited on the grounds of confusion. I don’t know about you, but Titan Poker, Titan Bet, and Titan Casino don’t sound like Attack on Titan to me. It is worth noting, however, that PT Entertainment Services Limited also owns the trademark for the word Titan in and of itself. Uh-oh.

Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains will be available digitally later this month on May 12, and is exclusive to the 3DS.
