If you don’t want to pay for Netflix and can’t find all the anime you seek on Crunchyroll, quality anime is closer than you might have guessed. Take a look at Hulu. Their anime collection has become increasingly impressive — and you don’t even have to upgrade to Hulu Plus to view several fantastic shows!
Now, these shows aren’t ordered from good to greatest, since they’re all wonderful, but here are my top ten Hulu-hosted anime! There should be something for everyone here.

1. Cowboy Bebop

This space-themed, philosophically-fueled anime is comprised of 26 episodes. If you enjoy the likes of Firefly, you might love Cowboy Bebop, its predecessor. When it’s over, you’ll most likely wish you could watch more. An excellent show to ease the pain that comes with witnessing the end of this anime is number two on the list!

2. Trigun

Adapted from a manga by Yasuhiro Nightow, this show also was released in ’98 and lasted 26 episodes. The show centers around a goofy, kindly gunman named Vash the Stampede. He’s attempting to use his powers for good, with the help of two insurance agents, Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson.

3. Bleach

If you’ve yet to watch this classic, or you want to reminisce on this show about the adventure of two Soul Reapers, all 366 episodes are available on Hulu for free!

4. Naruto

Another anime standard, follow the young Naruto Uzumaki on his quest to break beyond a strange stigma become the Hokage (leader and best fighter) of his ninja village.

5. Sword Art Online

This relatively new show is adapted from a series of light novels. Set in the near future, it centers around a virtual reality game world that many players are completely immersed within…well, actually, they’ve become trapped. If they die in game, they die in the real world. The second iteration of this anime is also available on Hulu.

6. Sailor Moon

This show, based on a manga, originally aired in 1991. In this popular anime, Usagi Tsukino is granted a mysterious brooch by a talking cat named Luna. This brooch empowers Usagi to become Sailor Moon, a lovely heroine destined to save the world. As the story develops, four more maidens join forces and are empowered as Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, and Sailor Venus.

7. Soul Eater

Maka and Soul make a dynamite time. The former is the Meister, the latter is the Weapon – he transforms into scythe-form during fights! Together, they battle all kinds of evils in order to protect the innocent! On Hulu, you can binge-watch all 51 episodes without cost.

8. Fruits Basket

This sentimental, short-lived show is based off a manga. If you enjoy animes that combine romance, action, and comedy, you’ll love this one about Tohru Honda. She’s a sweet, independent orphan, who discovers the wonderful and terrible secret of the Sohma family, after she moves in with them.

9. Mushi-shi

A lesser known one, this enchantingly melancholic show revolves around Mushi, entities possessing paranormal powers. The Mushi Master, Ginko, wanders throughout Japan to assist people who are troubled by Mushi. The two seasons of this anime can all be viewed with or without Hulu plus.

10. Death Note

Many are familiar with the storyline, in which Light Yagami discovers a book that gives him the power of life and death. He need only write the name of a person he believes should die, and they will perish. You can watch 37 dark, gripping episodes on Hulu!
