While everyone thought Hayao Miyazaki was retired, he has instead made the announcement that he will be directing an animated short. Following his last film The Wind Rises, he had originally announced that he had planned on retiring from making films. However, this film is being made for the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Tokyo.

3D CGI animation is a bit of a touchy subject for those who are deeply involved and fans of anime but as this particular film is being directed by Miyazaki it should be quite an interesting endeavor. Supposedly the film will take three years to make, be 10 minutes in length, and about a caterpillar. At this time, there have not been any comments or releases referring to the whether or not the short will be available outside of the museum. But we will keep our fans updated once there are more developments.
