According to an announcement in this year’s 39th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, the premiere date of the third season of the anime adaptation of Haikyu!! has been revealed! The series will be airing as part of the Fall 2016 season and the specific premiere date is set for October 7. The series is set to run on a boat load of channels in Japan and is almost assuredly going to be simulcast overseas. However, details regarding the series’ release including what the air times will be have not yet been revealed. A promotional video for the new season has been released, which you can view below:

Haikyu!! began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in February of 2012. Since then, the series has released a total of twenty-two volumes at the time of writing. Overseas, the series is licensed for release in North America by Viz Media.

The original anime adaptation began airing in April of 2014 and ran for a total of twenty-five episodes. The second season of the series began airing as part of the 2015 Fall season in October of last year and ran for twenty-five episodes as well. Both seasons were simulcast on Crunchyroll as they aired in Japan and are currently available for streaming. For those unfamiliar, Crunchyroll describes the series:

Based off of the original Weekly Shonen Jump manga series from Haruichi Furudate, Haikyu!! is a slice-of-life sports anime revolving around Shoyo Hinata’s love of volleyball. Inspired by a small-statured pro volleyball player, Hinata creates a volleyball team in his last year of middle school. Unfortunately the team is matched up against the “King of the Court” Tobio Kageyama’s team in their first tournament and inevitably lose. After the crushing defeat, Hinata vows to surpass Kageyama After entering high school, Hinata joins the volleyball team only to find that Tobio has also joined.
